Unit for macro supervision at the Bank of Norway (Norges Bank) monitors risk and vulnerability in the financial system. The unit prepares advice and decision-making bases on measures to contain systemic risk, in collaboration with the bank analysis unit. One of the tools in macro supervision is the countercyclical capital buffer in the banks, the level of which Norges Bank decides on each quarter. The unit for macro supervision conducts extensive analysis of the household and business sector as well as residential and commercial property markets. Analysis of microdata is central to the unit’s work. The unit has extensive cooperation with other units in central banking operations. Macro supervision is a developing professional field, and we are looking for a person with leadership ambitions and professional weight to lift the unit further. The unit currently has 12 employees.
Areas of responsibility and main tasks
- Further develop analysis of sources of systemic risk and the framework for macro supervision
- Lead strategic projects
- Personnel responsibility for parts of the unit
- Close collaboration with unit manager on daily operations and further development of the unit
- Guide employees in the work with analyzes and communication
- Prepare the basis for and communication of policy decisions and advice
- Present analyzes for the bank’s top management
- Represent the unit in national and international forums
Qualifications
- We are looking for someone who has a genuine interest in management and preferably experience as a personnel and/or project manager for larger professional projects.
- You have a master’s degree or PhD and several years’ experience from analytical work, preferably within macroeconomics or financial economics.
- Relevant research experience and experience from practical work with policy instruments will count positively.
- You have good written and oral presentation skills. It is a requirement that you master one of the Scandinavian languages, as well as English.
Special requirements
The position requires satisfactory character, orderly personal finances and security clearance according to Norges Bank’s regulations. A police certificate is required. Education and work experience will be verified.
