We currently have a vacancy for a Deputy Governor role (Financial Regulation) reporting to the Governor. The term of office is for a fixed five-year period, with an opportunity to extend for a further five years. The salary for the role will be €291,502 at October 2024.
As the Deputy Governor (Financial Regulation), the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the supervision of financial institutions and in the development of regulatory policy in one of the world’s major financial centres. They will be a member of the Central Bank Commission (the Board) and part of the Executive Leadership Team responsible for implementing the Bank’s strategy and delivering its statutory objectives.

The Role
Reporting to the Governor, the Deputy Governor (Financial Regulation) is a statutory role holder appointed by the Central Bank’s Commission (the Board) with the consent of the Minister for Finance. They are an ex-officio member of the Commission. Working as part of the Executive Leadership Team, the role holder will be responsible for:
- The leadership of the Central Bank, delivery of the Bank’s strategy and promotion of its culture and Values.
- Fostering an integrated organisation and a workplace environment and culture that is consistent with the Bank’s Values.
- Leading and shaping advice to the Governor on a broad range of financial regulation and supervision issues.
- Engagement with stakeholders and representing the Bank in domestic and international fora.
- Line management of Directors and supporting and empowering them to manage the day-to-day operations of the Bank.
- Setting clear directional priorities for the Bank.
The successful candidate will have:
- Significant experience working at very senior levels in either a financial services regulator, firm, central bank or finance ministry (experience of a combination of these would be particularly desirable).
- Strong knowledge of domestic and international (particularly European) financial services frameworks, regulatory principles and standards.
- Strong strategic leadership experience, including in successfully delivering organisational transformation and change.
- A proven track-record of leadership at senior management level in an organisation of scale with complex and high-profile stakeholder engagement, demonstrating sound judgment on both policy and operational matters.
- An ability to communicate clearly and with impact, and to lead and inspire a team of committed, purpose-led, professionals.
The person appointed will hold a university degree in economics or finance or equivalent professional experience.
