The BIS supports central banks’ pursuit of monetary and financial stability through international cooperation and serves as a bank for central banks.

The mission of Bank for International Settlements Innovation Hub (BISIH) is to foster international collaboration on financial technology within the central banking community, to improve the functioning and efficiency of the international digital financial system. This is reflected in the range of current projects which spans: Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), Suptech and Regtech, Next-gen Financial Market Infrastructures, open finance, cyber security and green finance.

The opportunity

Under the direction of the General Manager and the BIS governing bodies, the BISIH is led by the Head of the BISIH with the assistance of a management team consisting of the Deputy to the Head of the BISIH who is also Head of the Strategy and Operations Unit, together with the Heads of each of the 7 Hub Centres.

Reporting to the Head of the BISIH and working in close cooperation with the BIS Management Team, General Counsel and the Heads of the BISIH Centres, the Deputy to the Head of the BISIH and Head of the Strategy and Operations Unit has the following principal accountabilities:

• Support the Head of the BISIH in the performance of their duties, representing the BISIH internally and externally and deputising as appropriate.
• Serve as a member of the BISIH Management Team and contribute to the development and implementation of BISIH strategy and policy and its long-term strategic view.
• Lead and oversee all operations, and manage and motivate the members of the Strategy and Operations unit.
• Establish, maintain and enhance contacts with central banks, other international financial institutions, academic community, and financial market participants, with the aim of promoting a multi-disciplinary approach to collaboration and knowledge sharing on technology trends.

The successful candidate will bring:

• Strong executive management skills and a proven track-record in putting together and leading diverse multi-disciplinary teams and managing complex work processes involving multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills with an ability to engage and advise senior leaders at the highest level.
• Ability to build consensus around policy positions and to generate high-quality output in a timely manner and to communicate complex ideas clearly and convincingly.
• Technical expertise and interest in fintech and related areas relevant for the Innovation Hub.
