The Economic Group is looking for a highly experienced and motivated individual. The Deputy Head plays a key role in shaping, coordinating, and implementing transformational change of our Monetary Policy Processes in Economic Group.

 

Role Objectives:

  • Oversee and contribute to the effective performance of the Bank and delivery of the Bank strategy through the Analysis, Science and/or Research-related areas of direct responsibility, as well as through cross-department collaboration, advice, and support.
  • Motivate, foster, and inspire a culture aligned to the Bank’s values, enabling an environment for high levels of staff engagement and performance.
  • Foster an environment which supports ongoing improvements to strategies systems and processes.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and development of employees and teams to effectively achieve team, department, and enterprise outcomes.
  • Provide proactive and effective communication, encouraging multilevel feedback and fostering a culture of openness and trust.
  • Anticipate and effectively manage issues and risks, ensuring processes are consistent with the Bank’s risk appetite.
  • Enable and recognise workforce performance in a way that encourages high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with leaders and key stakeholders to achieve enterprise outcomes.

 

Your background:

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience in managing, maintaining and continuously improving operations (budget, people, and process management).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans at a section level.
  • Previous experience in areas relevant to the Bank, or in directing and/or undertaking research and analysis in economics/finance.
  • Ability to write and communicate for different audiences, contexts, and objectives.
  • Experience in representing the Bank (or a comparable organisation) at senior levels with other organisations.
  • Experience in analysing complex risks and issues, and an ability to contribute to the development of risk management standards consistent with an organisation’s risk and innovation appetite.
  • Demonstrated ability to support initiatives to address health, safety, and holistic wellbeing.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop policies, systems, and processes, including the provision of advice and recommendations for change.
  • Experience in financial markets and system, Australian economy, financial analysis and/or research.
  • Understanding of the purpose of the central bank, and how different functional areas contribute to the strategic goals of the enterprise.
  • Experience driving organisational change by building, leading, coaching, and mobilising teams.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in economics or a related discipline, preferably at postgraduate level, or equivalent experience.

 

Your team

Economic Analysis Department monitors and forecasts trends in the international and domestic economies and provides regular advice on these developments and on monetary policy to the Governors and the Board. It engages with internal and external stakeholders and audiences, conducts a nationwide business liaison program, undertakes applied research and prepares documents for publication in support of the Bank’s objectives.
