The Bank of Japan is inviting submissions for the Economics of Payments XV Conference, taking place on November 9β10, 2026 in Tokyo.
The conference brings together leading researchers and policymakers to discuss the evolution, innovation, and regulation of retail and wholesale payment systems.
Papers are welcomed on a wide range of topics, including payment system innovation (e.g. fintech, AI, distributed ledger technology), financial stability and risks, central bank digital currencies and stablecoins, cross-border payments, and new data and research methods.
The submission deadline is May 31, 2026, with both full papers and extended abstracts accepted. Selected contributions will be featured in sessions or poster presentations, and limited travel funding is available for academic speakers.
